Charttoolbox help

What can I make with Charttoolbox?

Charttoolbox turns CSV, TSV, XLS/XLSX, or pasted tables into heatmaps, pie and donut charts, bar charts, line charts, scatter plots, histograms, and correlation matrices. Your spreadsheet contents are processed in your browser, and you can download the result as PNG or SVG.

Getting started

Is Charttoolbox free, and do I need an account?

Yes, all current chart tools are free, and no account or payment is required. Open a tool, add your data, and download the chart.

What files and pasted data can I use?

You can upload CSV, TSV, XLS, or XLSX files, or paste a table copied from a spreadsheet. For XLS and XLSX files, Charttoolbox reads the first worksheet only; move the intended table there before importing. Each tool also has fictional sample data to show the expected format.

How do I make a chart from a CSV or Excel table?

Choose the chart that answers your question, import or paste a table with column names in its first row, then review the selected fields before exporting. The three steps are:

  1. Choose a chart tool and upload a file, paste cells, or try its sample.
  2. Check the category, date, X/Y, or value fields; correct any validation message and adjust the title or style.
  3. Download PNG or SVG from the preview.

Choosing a chart

Which chart should I use for my data?

Choose by the question: a bar chart compares named categories; a pie or donut chart shows parts of one whole; a line chart shows change over time or ordered labels. Use a scatter plot for two numeric measurements per observation, a histogram for the distribution of one numeric column, a heatmap for an existing matrix or X/Y/Value table, and a correlation matrix to calculate pairwise Pearson correlations from raw observations. See all chart tools and their required columns.

What is the difference between a heatmap and a correlation matrix?

A heatmap displays values you already have in a labeled matrix or X/Y/Value table. The correlation matrix tool calculates Pearson coefficients from complete raw observations in 2–12 selected numeric columns, then displays the result as a matrix. Neither chart proves causation.

When should I use a bar chart instead of a histogram?

Use a bar chart for named categories and their values, such as orders by region. Use a histogram for raw measurements in one numeric column, such as individual order values; it counts observations in numeric intervals. A pre-counted frequency table is bar-chart data, not raw histogram input. See the worked comparison.

Can Charttoolbox import an existing Excel chart?

No. It reads tabular cell values, not an Excel chart object or its formatting, and it does not recalculate workbook formulas. Import the source table, check the selected fields, and build a new chart in Charttoolbox.

Data and exports

How large can my file or table be?

An uploaded file can be up to 10 MB. An imported table can have up to 2,000 rows including the header, 100 columns, and 20,000 cells. Individual tools have additional limits: pie charts accept up to 12 categories, bar charts up to 50, line charts 1–8 numeric series, and histograms 1–50 bins. A smaller, focused table is usually easier to read.

Why is my chart not appearing?

Usually a selected field or source cell needs correction. Check for an empty header, missing numeric value, duplicate category or line-chart label, an invalid date, or percentages mixed with ordinary numbers in one value column. Read the on-page validation message for the row and field, fix the source table, and import it again; the tool does not silently discard invalid observations.

Can I change automatically selected fields?

Yes. Automatic field detection is a starting point. Use the controls beside the preview to choose the category, X/Y, date, series, or value fields that actually answer your question before exporting.

What can I download?

You can download SVG for a resizable, editable vector chart or PNG at 1×, 2×, or 3× resolution for slides and documents. Keep your source spreadsheet: the exported image is not a saved Charttoolbox project.

Privacy and support

Does Charttoolbox upload or store my spreadsheet?

No. File parsing, chart calculations, and exports happen locally in your browser; Charttoolbox does not keep a server copy or cloud project. The website still makes ordinary hosting requests. Optional Google Analytics 4 loads only if you accept analytics and does not receive filenames, spreadsheet contents, or generated chart data. Read the Privacy Policy for the full boundary.

Does Charttoolbox use AI to make or inspect my chart?

No. The current chart tools use browser-side parsing and chart logic, not an AI service. They can draw a chart and report certain data errors, but they cannot verify that your source numbers, denominators, or conclusions are correct.

Will my work still be here when I return?

No. Charttoolbox does not save a project or your spreadsheet for a later session. Keep the original file and download your PNG or SVG before closing or reloading the page.

How can I ask for help?

Email 524736248@qq.com with the tool name and the exact error message. If you include a sample table or screenshot, remove personal or confidential data first; anything you send by email leaves the local chart workflow.
